lee and peter braun restored a showpiece on rebecca and to no one’s surprise it’s spectacular
Anyone who’s seen Lee and Peter Braun’s renovation of Alcoa House knows that the couple does not mess around when it comes to fixing up neglected houses. And on Thursday evening, the Brauns hosted an open house at their latest project — a showpiece at 7200 Rebecca Drive that’s just received a top-to-bottom renovation.
And what can we say, except: wow.
Oh, and also: thank you thank you thank you! The once-striking house had fallen on increasingly shabby times over the past decade, and become a depressing eyesore on Rebecca; strong men were known to weep with sorrow at its pitiful decline. But last year, the Brauns snagged the place (a two-level Unit Type 5B, built in 1954), basically gutted it, replaced the weeds with actual landscaping, and restored it to beauty once again.
In celebration, the couple threw an open-invitation party on June 20 for any Hollin Hiller curious to see the new look, and — Hollin Hillers being who we are — pretty much everybody dropped in at some point during the four-hour event. There was delicious food, there was champagne on the upper deck and whiskey downstairs, there was much ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the snazzy design and unique touches and high-end workmanship, and of course there was maybe possibly a little house envy.
Anyway — if you haven’t seen it, have a gander next time you’re on Rebecca. The four-bedroom home is being listed at just under $1.5 million (check out their website for more info and loads of photos), but even if you’re not in the market, give Lee and Peter a hug when you see ‘em — just for bringing such a remarkable Goodman home back to glory during this 75th Anniversary year.
