Don’t-miss concert! Sound Impact to Play Hollin Hills on November 1

The superb classical music ensemble Sound Impact — which features Hollin Hills musicians Gino Madrid on violin and Jerome Gordon on viola — will perform at the Mount Vernon Unitarian Church on Sunday, November 1, from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Hollin Hills Violist Jerome Gordon

This remarkable group has played many times in Hollin Hills, and the concerts are always memorable, so mark your calendars. The November concert will showcase a string quartet that, aside from Gordon and Madrid, includes Kayleigh Kim on violin and the remarkable Danielle Cho on ‘cello. And if all that talent isn’t enough for you, fellow Hollin Hillers Lynn Umemoto and Tom Voskuil will also be on hand with catering from their superb Taqueria Picoso restaurant.

A 2001 concert in Hollin Hills

It promises to be a great afternoon — and it’s also for a great cause. Sound Impact is a musicians’ collective dedicated to fostering young, often disadvantaged musicians, and they run a range of projects, including bringing young players from Latin America to the U.S. to study; running music workshops in juvenile detention facilities; presenting interactive “Time Travel Through Music” performances to introduce children to music; and much more.

The concert is free (contributions to Sound Impact’s worthy programs are, of course, always welcome), but please register for the event in advance. See you there!
