Montgomery County Celebrates Charles Goodman in 2026

Montgomery County, MD is launching a year of events — tours, lectures, even a sock hop — to celebrate the 181 homes that architect Charles Goodman (the designer of Hollin Hills) built there in the 1950s. The celebrations kick off with a guided walking tour of the Wheaton Crest community (outside only, no interiors) on Saturday April 18 at 2 pm.  It’s free — pre-register at goodman75th@gmail.com  to get the meetup spot.

Tours of Hammond Wood and Hammond Mill will follow later this year, as well as a panel discussion on Goodman on May 16; workshops on how to build “tiny house” versions of Goodman homes from found materials (ok sure why not); art exhibits; and a Sock Hop Dance Party in September.
