a great 2021 4th of july picnic in voigt park!

Our annual July 4th picnic celebration at Voigt Park had a wonderful turnout of Hollin Hillers and friends excited to socialize with one another again. Although it was a “modified” picnic for safety reasons, we still managed to consume 450 hot dogs, two kegs of beer, and over 400 ice cream bars!  The picnic is always a wonderful time to meet new neighbors, and it was particularly special this year since it was the first time for many to come out of isolation to safely socialize. You could feel the appreciation everyone had for friendly neighborly interaction. And considering the time of year, the weather was unusually perfect! 

Putting on the picnic is no small feat and could not have been possible without the help of many volunteers. Thanks to everyone, especially Bryan Lane and his amazing grilling team for the delicious hot dogs and veggie burgers! Tony Morris, Gail Kropf, Mohra Gavankar, Nancy Harrity and others manned the welcome table, Allison Miles-Lee dished out ice cream, Kevin Scott Roberts and Alan Barak served the beer, and a host of others – including Jerome Gordon, David Rivera and Jaelith Hall-Rivera, Peter Martz, Steve Obenski, Chris Kitzmiller, Justino Abad and Patrick Kelly, to name just a few – all helped with the decorations and clean-up afterwards. Thanks to everyone who helped make the picnic such a great success!
